Gettysburg College Athletics

Today's Centennial Conference (CC) match marks the 40th all-time meeting between Gettysburg (14-1, 0-0 CC) and Muhlenberg (6-7, 0-1 CC) in a series that dates back to 1982. The Bullets lead the all-time series 31-8 and has won the last four. The last Mules victory was the end of a six-match winning streak on Oct. 13, 2018, 3-1.

WHEN LAST WE MET: Gettysburg and Muhlenberg traded two close sets before the Bullets won set three and four to take a 3-1 victory in the Centennial Conference opener last season. Sophie Nasir racked up 28 assists to go with 17 digs. Erin Gonzalez and Kylie Ulrich led the attack with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Christina Marcin paced the Mules' attack with 15 kills. LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg captured a pair of two-point wins in the first two sets before capping a sweep of Stockton with a 25-18 third-set victory on Saturday. Kendall Erpenbeck led the Bullets with 13 assists and a season-high 12 digs. The setter also had one kill. Jaylah Rolle led the Ospreys with a match-high 11 kills and rounded out a double-double with 10 digs. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

POLLING NUMBERS: Gettysburg was picked to finished tied for third in the annual preseason Centennial Conference poll. The Bullets garnered 81 points, including one first-place tally. Johns Hopkins was the unanimous favorite to repeat as champions for the eighth straight year. Franklin & Marshall was chosen second (84 points) and Swarthmore finished tied with Gettysburg for third.

BALANCING ACT: Saturday's 3-0 win over Stockton was the first time this season that no Gettysburg player reached double-digit kills. However, five hitters had between six and eight knockdowns on the day to lead a balanced attack. Erin Gonzalez, Catherine Holtz and Alycen Radolovic all had eight while Mary Huegel and Clare Farrell had six each. Gonzalez added 10 digs while Huegel had both of the team's aces and three blocks. It was the first time since Sept. 4 against Stevenson that Radolovic did not have at least 10 kills in a match. She has recorded eight or more in 14 of the team's 15 matches and 10 or more in 12 matches.

LAST TIME OUT: Muhlenberg finished with a 7-2 run to defeat Neumann in five sets on Tuesday night. The Mules dropped the first set, won the next two and lost the fourth to go to a fifth set for a second straight match. Neumann led 10-8 in the decisive set before back-to-back kills by freshman Olivia Bruno and sophomore Kelliann Keogh tied the score to key the comeback win. THREE HUNDRED LEVEL: The Mules have three hitters who have reached the 100-kill mark through just 13 matches this season. Esmae Oehler leads the squad with 127 kills, averaging 2.82 kills per set. She is also hitting .205 on the year and has recorded seven or more kills in seven of the 12 matches she has played. Rachel Jacobs and Christina Marcin have also eclipsed triple digits. Jacobs has 108 kills (2.20 kps) while Marcin has 104 (2.36) but missed Tuesday's match. She had 10 or more kills in four of the previous five Muhlenberg outings.
