FOR THE FOES

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Behind baskets from four different players, Gettysburg jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the game's first 3:46. The Bullets maintained a 17-10 advantage midway through the opening half before Kai Cipalla drained a second-chance triple and Chris Miers drained a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one with 8:27 showing. Another Cipalla 3-pointer tied the game at 24-all. A Nate Williams (Morganville, N.J./St. John Vianney) step-back jumper made it a 31-25 game but York outscored the hosts 8-2 over the final 97 seconds to go the locker room square at 33-all.
• Trailing 36-33, 11 points from Cipalla ignited a 15-1 run that gave the Spartans a 48-37 lead with 13:49 on the clock. The lead grew as large as 12 three times until a Tate Landis driving layup made it 58-48 with 6:27 remaining. Williams hit two free throws at the other end to cut the deficit to single digits. With 3:58 showing, Carl Schaller scored on the drive then Akim Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) connected on a drive as did Williams to close the margin to two just 1:34 later. Two Schaller free throws with 1:07 to play tied the game at 58-all and neither team could connect in the final minute to send the game to overtime.
• Schaller pulled up and hit on a second chance 29 seconds into the extra session for the first lead since early in the second half. Jackson Mascari had the answer at the other end before Stafford hit the first of two free throws for a one-point edge. Williams then hit a turnaround with 3:19 showing for a three-point lead. Baskets from Mascari and Cipalla gave York a 64-63 lead with 1:45 to play. Stafford, however, drained two free throws for a 65-64 lead 19 seconds later. Cipalla hit the front end of a 1-and-1 to tie the game but the second one was off the mark and Williams pulled down the board. After a timeout in the frontcourt, three attempts from shot range were off the mark and the Bullets had an inbounds under the basket with 4.4 seconds remaining. Williams hit Kosta Radulovic (Podorica, Montenegro/Perkiomen School [Pa.]) for a slam and two-point lead. Schaller then intercepted the long inbounds pass after a timeout to secure the win.
