THE LEADERS
•
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) was three-of-three at the plate with a double, a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored.
FOR THE FOES
• Brandan Hartman went three-for-three with two runs and four RBIs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Two walks and a double got Bridgewater on the board early in the bottom of the first, putting up two runs. After holding the Bullets to no hits in the top of the second, the Eagles tallied seven hits and eight runs in the bottom of the second to open up a 10-0 lead. Two singles and a double put the first three tallies of the inning up, and three more made it 7-0 before a three-RBI double made it 10-0 before the final out of the inning was recorded.
• Gettysburg responded in the top of the third with their first runs. After
Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) singled, a groundout and Burke single put him at third base.
Matthew Vivona (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) knocked Laqui in. Another groundout and wild pitch brought Burke home to cut the deficit to 10-2.
• Bridgewater tallied two knocks in the bottom of the third for two more runs and shut down Gettysburg's first three batters of the next inning. In the bottom of the fourth, a home run by Jeffrey Snider made it a 13-2 game.
•
David Preziuso (Selbyville, Del./Caravel Academy) drew a walk in the top of the fifth and Burke tripled to knock him in. Vivona added another single to bring Burke home to cut the deficit to nine runs. In the bottom of the inning, however, the Eagles advanced on two wild pitches to score again and bring their lead back to 10. A wild pitch by Bridgewater allowed Gettysburg to score one run in the top of the sixth, but the Eagles added another of their own on two singles in the bottom.
• Bridgewater put up one more run on several walks in the bottom of the seventh and Gettysburg added one more tally in the top of the ninth on a wild pitch, error, and
Kody Clausius (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) single for a 16-6 final.
