THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg surged back from an 8-0 deficit after three innings to win a tightly contested game against Western Connecticut State and close out their spring break trip with an 11-10 victory.
THE LEADERS
•
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) hit 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two walks. He was just a double short of hitting the cycle, adding a triple and a two-RBI home run.
•
James Weedon (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) picked up the win on the mound with 2.0 innings thrown and four strikeouts.

FOR THE FOES
• Bryan Birkl went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and a double.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg quickly found themselves down 4-0 after the top of the first after Western Connecticut scored on three hits and an error. The Wolves tacked on another in the top of the second on a hit batter and a single to lead by five runs.
• Western Connecticut widened the gap to 8-0 in the next inning, using two doubles and two singles to plate their next three runs.
• The Bullets finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth. After Pistner drew a walk,
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) doubled to bring him home. Gettysburg made it an 8-5 game in the bottom of the fifth with a walk and three extra-base hits.
David Preziuso (Selbyville, Del./Caravel Academy) was walked and a triple by
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) brought him home.
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) doubled to bring in Amirata, and then Hicks scored on a
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) home run.
• Gettysburg tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, with four hits and three runs.
Will Bercaw (Kennett Square, Pa./Pennington) started the hitting off with a double, and an Amirata single plated him. Hicks then hit his second double of the day and Pistner tripled to knot the game 8-all.
•Western Connecticut regained their lead in the top of the seventh, using three singles and a Gettysburg error, but the Bullets got one back in the bottom of the inning with a single by Murphy and double by Preziuso. Â
• Gettysburg took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the eighth. Hicks led off the inning with a single and was followed by a Pistner walk.
Tristan Neels (San Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker) entered the game and hit a double to score Hicks, and Bercaw drew another walk to plate the final run of the game.
Tyler Lizell (Upper Dublin, Pa./Upper Dublin) came in to pitch the final inning and recorded his second save in two days, facing just four batters to shut down the Wolves for an 11-10 final.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Western Connecticut outhit Gettysburg, 16-14. However, just three of the Wolves' hits were for extra bases, while nine of Gettysburg's 14 were.
•
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two doubles.
• The Bullets drew eight walks, including three from
Brian Andersen (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham).
