THE LEADERS
•
David Preziuso (Selbyville, Del./Caravel Academy) led the Bullets with a 3-for-4 day and scored four runs.
•
Brett Townsley (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) threw two innings out of the pen with three strikeouts for his first collegiate win on the mound.
FOR THE FOES
• Stephen Sommer led the Blazers with three hits, an RBI and run scored.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• With two outs in the top of the first, Stephen Sommer dropped a single into center and Cameron Day followed with a single to left. Jacob Saylor then took a 2-0 pitch out to left field for an early 3-0 lead.
• A one-out walk to Remi Schaber and back-to-back two-out singles from Keegan Brennan and Sommer stretched the lead to 4-0 in the second.
•
Will Bercaw (Kennett Square, Pa./Pennington) and
David Preziuso drew back-to-back walks to lead off the third before a double steal put two in scoring position. Back-to-back RBI groundouts from
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) and
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial0 made it a 4-2 game.
• Schaber singled with one out in the fourth before Austin Rhue followed with a single to center. With two outs, an infield single and throwing error pushed the Hood lead to 5-2.
• Preziuso led off the fifth with a single before stealing second. After a walk to Amirata, a fielder's choice put runners at the corners.
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) dropped down a safety squeeze to make it 5-3 before a
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) single to center cut the deficit to one.
•
Alexey Stout (Wall, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) walked to lead off the sixth before
Brian Andersen (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) poked a single through the right side on a hit-and-run that left runners at the corners. After Andersen stole second, a ground ball scored Stout to tie the game. After a fielder's choice scored the go-ahead run, the Blazers opted to issue back-to-back intentional walks to load the bases. A fielding error, bases-loaded walk and sacrifice fly capped a five-run frame that gave the hosts a 9-5 advantage.
• Bercaw singled with two outs in the seventh before Preziuso followed with a single. After another double steal and wild pitch on a walk made it 10-5, a failed pickoff attempt scored Preziuso for an 11-5 lead.
• An Alex Jenkins walk, Matthew Stout double and Jack Patterson RBI groundout netted one run for Hood in the eighth before a Brennan leadoff single, stolen base and one-out single from Day made it 11-7 in the ninth.
James Weedon (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) the got a groundball double play to seal the win.
