THE REST OF THE STORY

Charlie Johnson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) from
Ethan Kessler (Ridgefield, Conn./Millbrook School).
Stokes Myers (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) launched the ball to
Quinton Mather (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms), who connected for Gettysburg's first lead of the day two minutes later. The Mules put up two unassisted tallies in the final 3:06 of the opening period to switch the advantage as they led 3-2 after one.
•
Will Hedley (Charlotte, N.C./The Hotchkiss School) opened the second quarter action with a caused turnover and goa, assisted by Kessler, to tie the game for the third time. Goals by Daniel Friedel and
Jackson Hearn (Houston, Texas/Episcopal Bellaire) within just 36 seconds of eachother created a 4-all tie. The back-and-forth continued, with Mather finishing an unassisted run and Jack Bill putting up two back-to-back, before Kessler passed to Mather for his third of the day and a 6-all tie at half.
• Muhlenberg established the first two-goal lead of the day in the opening 5:27 of the second half with goals by Chase Kusko and Ryan Neal. Gettysburg got back within one on a Hearn goal, but Ryan May put up the last tally of the period for Muhlenberg to maintain the 9-7 lead going into the fourth quarter.
• The Mules capitalized on a man-up opportunity to open the third quarter with a three-goal lead.
Jack Dunleavy (New Providence, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) scored his only goal of the day to cut the deficit back to two, and Kessler followed shortly after with a solo tally to trail by just one. Muhlenberg fought to maintain their lead with a goal by Malia, but Mather converted with 3:14 showing to bring the Bullets back within one. In the final two minutes, Myers finished a Dunleavy pass to tie the game for the first time since the second quarter, 11-all. On the Mules final possession of the quarter, Gettysburg goalie
Chase Morgan (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) made a critical save, but with just 11 seconds left on the clock Gettysburg's shot went wide to send the teams to overtime.
