FIRST PITCH: Today's Centennial Conference (CC) doubleheader marks the 76th and 77th all-time meetings between Gettysburg (23-11, 9-5 CC) and Ursinus (15-21, 7-7 CC) in a series that dates back to 1981. The Bears lead the all-time series 41-34 but the two teams have split the last three season series.
LAST SEASON'S SERIES: Gettysburg needed extra innings and the international tiebreaker to break a scoreless deadlock and win game one 2-0 before Ursinus came back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to forge the split 3-1 in last year's regular-season finale. Bailey Quinn led the Bullets offensively with five hits on the day, including a 4-for-4 game one. Paige Forry struck out 10 for a 10-inning, five-hit shutout in the game one victory. Megan Hughes went the distance in game two with four strikeouts. Samantha Mallen led the Bears with four hits on the afternoon. (Full Recap) (Game 1 Box) (Game 2 Box)
WHAT'S THE SCENARIO?: There are upwards of 224 scenarios to set the final playoff field entering the last day of the regular season. For Gettysburg, the Bullets need just one win to assure themselves a top-three seed and a bye into the double-elimination tournament, which begins on Thursday. Gettysburg can still reach the top seed with two wins and some help. Ursinus needs two wins to assure itself a spot in the five-team field. The Bears can still get into the tournament with one win, depending on the results of the doubleheaders between Washington and Dickinson, Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall, and McDaniel and Muhlenberg.
