THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg struck first to lead Johns Hopkins 3-0 after two innings, but eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins scored six runs in the top of the third and led the rest of the way for a 13-4 final.

Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) tallied two extra-base knocks, a triple and a double, in his first two at bats of the game. He also drove in three runs.
FOR THE FOES
• Matthew Cooper led the Blue Jays with a 2-for-2 day, adding three walks and three runs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg scored first in the bottom of the second. After a leadoff
Kody Clausius (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) single,
Alexey Stout (Wall, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) and
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) both drew two-out walks to load the bases.
Brendan Laqui then laced a ball past the diving Johns Hopkins left fielder to clear the bases and give the Bullets a 3-0 lead.
• In the top of the third, Johns Hopkins led off with a double before smoking a single into right field to score their first run. The Blue Jays added another on an error to trim the gap to 3-2 with no outs, and a sacrifice fly plated the tying run for the visitors. A two-out single by Matthew Cooper was followed by two free passes from the Gettysburg pitching staff to load the bases, and Seif Ingram brought two of the runners home on a single to give Johns Hopkins a 5-3 lead. A walk and a hit batter made it a 6-3 game after two and a half.
• Johns Hopkins extended their lead to 9-3 in the top of the fourth, sending eight to the plate and tallying three hits. Dillon Souvignier started things off for the visitors with a single. After a flyout, the Blue Jays hit a pair of singles before drawing two straight runs to make it an 8-3 game. A sacrifice fly plated the final Johns Hopkins run of the inning, and the 9-3 advantage would hold until the eighth inning.
• In the top of the eighth, the Blue Jays drew three walks around a foul out to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by Alex Shane made it a 10-3 lead for Johns Hopkins. In the bottom of the inning,
Emmanuel Ajewole (Floral Park, N.Y./Stony Brook School) singled before a Murphy two-out double to left field brought home the Bullets' fourth run of the day.
• Johns Hopkins plated their final runs in the top of the ninth. After a leadoff single by Souvignier, the Blue Jays drew a walk and singled to lengthen their lead to seven, 11-4. Another walk and two-run single by Clay Hartje extended it to the final score of 13-4
THE INSIDE STORY
• Johns Hopkins outhit Gettysburg 13-7.
• The Blue Jays stranded 14 runners while Gettysburg left eight on base.
