THE LEADERS
•

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Washington struck first with a second-chance goal by Cam Carrigan, and made it a 2-0 advantage just three minutes later on an unassisted Connor Garrison tally. A failed clear by the Shoremen led to Gettysburg's first goal of the day out of the stick of
Stokes Myers, and Ben Dickinson and Myers traded goals to a 3-2 Washington lead. With 4:59 showing, both teams went on a two-goal spurt, with the Bullets getting goals from
Patrick Maroney (Hingham, Mass./Boston College H.S.) and
Ryan Cernuto (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan). Washington finished the quarter with two more goals in the final 46 seconds to lead 7-4 after the first 15 minutes.
• The Bullets came storming back in the beginning of the second quarter, scoring three goals in just under two minutes to tie the game.
Jack Dunleavy (New Providence, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) scored his first of the day off an assist from
Ethan Kessler (Ridgefield, Conn./Millbrook School), and
Jackson Hearn (Houston, Texas/Episcopal Bellaire) fed a pass to
Luke Barbera (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) for Myers got his one assist of the day on a man-up goal by
Quinton Mather (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms). Back-to-back Cory Morgan goals within two minutes allowed the hosts to regain the lead, but Dunleavy found Kessler to cut the deficit back to just one. A Luke Brennan goal in the final 31 seconds of the first half made it a 10-8 Washington College lead at halftime.
• Morgan and Dylan Kilroy opened the second half of play with tallies in the first 2:04 to push the Shoremen lead back to four. A Hearn unassisted goal would be the only one the Bullets would net in the third quarter, while Washington scored two more in the final 7:08 to establish their biggest lead yet, 14-9, going into the final period of play.
• Dunleavy struck in the first 31 seconds of the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to four, but Reeve Hargrave scored just 32 seconds after that to make it a five-goal lead for the hosts yet again. Mather chipped in an unassisted goal, but it was followed by two Washington College tallies for a six-goal advantage with 6:57 left to play. With just over three minutes showing, Gettysburg started a 3-0 spurt, getting goals from Hearn, Kessler, and Myers, but couldn't complete the comeback as Washington netted one more in the last five seconds for an 18-14 victory.
