Tonight's non-conference season opener marks the first all-time meeting between Gettysburg (0-0) and Emerson (0-0).

LAST TIME OUT: Franklin & Marshall scored a goal late in each half to defeat Gettysburg 2-0 in the opening round of the 2023 Centennial Conference tournament. Alex Jurow led the Bullets with nine saves in goal. Gettysburg went 6-3-1 in conference play last season to earn the No. 5 seed in the tournament, falling in the opening round for the second straight season. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

KICKING IT OFF: The Bullets return eight players who started 12 or more games last season and led the squad to an 8-7-2 mark that included a 6-3-1 CC record and the fifth seed in the tournament. Gettysburg failed to score in six of its seven losses a year ago and will look to an experienced group up front for more offensive production to complement its solid defense. That unit, backstopped by Alex Jurow, held 11 of the 17 opponents to zero or one goals last season. Jordan Weinberg and Elise Fox return to captain the backline. Zoe Want rounds out a trio of captains and was the leading scorer on the team last year with eight points on two goals and four assists. 

LAST TIME OUT: Emerson came up short in its quest to repeat as NEWMAC Champions a year ago, falling 2-1 to Babson in the conference semifinals. Gina Lukoskie scored the game's first goal. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

MIXED RETURNS: The Lions return three of their seven players who scored multiple goals in 2023. Madaline Khaw - a second-team All-NEWMAC selection - leads the returning offense after scoring six goals and adding two assists for a team-best 14 points. Anna Swisher and Amara Schaub both return to anchor the defensive unit as all-conference performers a year ago. Schaub, who was the first-team goalkeeper, posted a 1.04 goals-against average and played every minute in goal. In NEWMAC play, she had a scant 0.27 goals-against average, allowing just three goals in 11 games while making 28 saves for a .903 save percentage.
