THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg built a 23-point lead five minutes into the second half before withstanding an Ursinus comeback attempt, hitting 14 3-pointers as part of a 100-88 road win.
THE LEADERS

Carl Schaller (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) led the Bullets with his second straight 20-point game with 25 points.

Jordan Stafford (Galloway, N.J./St. Joseph Hammonton) and
Nate Williams (Morganville, N.J./St. John Vianney) also reached the 20-point mark with 22 and 20 points, respectively. Williams joined Schaller with five triples each.
FOR THE FOES
• Trevor Wall led the Bears with 26 points.
• Nick Nocito also reached the 20-point mark with 22 points.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a back-and-forth start to the team where neither team could establish a lead of larger than two points,
Carl Schaller scored five straight points to give Gettysburg a 19-13 lead with 12:39 to play.
Jordan Stafford then slammed one home to extend the run, which grew to 11-2 over a 2-minute, 27-second span to open a double-digit lead at 25-15 midway through the opening half. A third
Nate Williams 3-pointer in the first half extended the advantage to 30-17 before Ursinus scored eight of the next 10 points to close to within 32-25 with 4:30 remaining. Two
Akim Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) free throws with 3:45 showing sparked a 12-5 close to the half that included the final five of the opening stanza to open up a 46-32 lead.
• Schaller netted the Bullets' first 10 points of the second half to account for a 10-4 start that ballooned the lead to 20 at 56-36 before three minutes had elapsed. The lead grew to 23 points before the Bears countered with a 15-5 run to trim the deficit to 69-56 with 11:24 to play. Four straight points from
Aidan Mess (Brookeville, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) stemmed the tide and pushed the lead back to 17 less than a minute later. A Nick Nocito three-point play and Trevor Wall 3-pointer made it a 75-64 game with 9:22 showing. A Martin Wise three-point play in transition cut the deficit to single digits before Luke Nieman drained a triple to make it a 76-70 game with 7:43 to play. A Williams three-point play, however, sparked a 7-0 counter by the Bullets that pushed the lead back to 13 with 5:40 to play. The half of runs continued with Ursinus responding with five in a row to make it an 83-75 game. The lead remained between 10 and 14 points until Nocito converted a four-point play with 50.3 second left to make it a 95-87 game.
THE INSIDE STORY
• For
Carl Schaller, the 25-point was his seven game this season with 20 or more points and the 21st of his career.
•
Akim Joseph (17) and
Aidan Mess (11) also reached double figures in the scoring column to round out five players in double digits.
• Joseph added nine rebounds while Mess grabbed seven boards.
• Stafford also dished out a career-high eight assists while Joseph had six helpers.
• The 100 points scored by Gettysburg was the most ever in the series against Ursinus and most in a conference game since also scoring 100 against Haverford on Feb. 4, 2017.
