Gettysburg jumps out early to defeat Mount Aloysius

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg used a 21-5 run in the first half to build a 20-point lead midway through the stanza to defeat Mount Aloysius, 89-64.

THE LEADERS
Reece Craft (Downingtown, Pa./Devon Prep) led a balanced scoring attack for the Bullets with 14 points. He also had five rebounds and four assists.
• Kosta Rodulovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Perkiomen School [Pa.]) chipped in 11 points, six rebounds and two assists.

FOR THE FOES
• Troy Tinch led the Mounties with 30 points and six rebounds.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Ignacio Nascimento Zschaeck hit a layup to stake Mount Aloysius to a 2-0 lead in the first minuet but a Malachi Briscoe (California, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) layup and Ray Zamloot (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) 3-pointer in the corner gave Gettysburg the lead for good with 17:14 showing. Leading 10-6 after a Senique Jenkins layup, Lorenzo Carrara (Norwood, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) hit two free throws with 14:15 showing to spark the game-changing 21-5 run. Eight different Bullets scored during that run that stretched the advantage to 31-11 with 9:38 on the clock. The lead remained between 17 and 21 points the Mounties scored seven straight points to close to within 42-28 with 1:49 showing. Two Caleb Gillus (Falls Church, Va./Sidwell Friends School [D.C.]) free throws and a Reece Craft reverse layup in the final minute extended the lead to 46-28 at the break.
• Mount Aloysius got no closer than 18 the entire second half and the lead remained at 20 or more for the final 15:50 of the game. A Carson Kasmer (Narbeth, Pa./Lower Marion) driving layup gave the hosts their largest lead of the game at 89-63 with 32 seconds left. Josh Herr (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) scored his first six collegiate points in a 2-minute, 25-second span of the half. A Troy Tinch three-point play with 3:07 remaining closed the deficit to 20 but the Bullets tallied five straight in a 27-second span to quickly push the advantage back to 25.

THE INSIDE STORY
Ray Zamloot finished with 12 points and four rebounds while Malachi Briscoe finished with seven.
• In addition to Josh Herr's six points, Alex Grospe (South River, N.J./South River) and Nate Williams (Morganville, N.J./St. John Vianney) each added six points. Caleb Gillus had five points, five assists and six rebounds.
Aidan Mess (Columbia, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) added five points, six rebounds and four blocked shots.
