THE REST OF THE STORY
• Isaiah Edmond and
Akim Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) traded baskets to open the game before a
Jordan Stafford layup gave Gettysburg a 4-2 edge. Brandon Wiercinski drained a 3-pointer on the other end for a 5-4 edge before
Nate Williams (Morganville, N.J./St. John Vianney) and David Petrusev traded baskets. A
Carl Schaller fast-break layup and foul, however, gave the hosts a 9-7 edge with 15:22 to play they didn't relinquish the rest of the way. That sparked an 8-0 run over just 2 minutes, 18 seconds for a 14-7 lead. A Joseph triple made it a double-digit game for the first time at 22-12 midway through the half. Holding a 29-18 lead,
Kosta Radulovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Perkiomen School [Pa.]) layup and Stafford breakaway turnaround in the lane stretched the lead to 15 with 4:37 showing. Schaller got a wild driving coast-to-coast layup to go to make it a 43-25 game at the intermission.
• Joseph made it a 21-point game on the opening possession of the second half, draining a step-back trey. Dickinson scored 10 of the game's next 16 to get back to within 15 with 16:12 showing but two Stafford free throws and an
RJ Bennett (Hartford, Conn./Taft School) layup stretched the lead back to 19 in the next 52 seconds. The lead remained between 17 and 22 until 6-0 burst turned a 63-45 game into a 69-45 lead in just 1 minute, 50 seconds. The lead grew to as large as 27 en route to the 22-point win.
