THE LEADERS

THE REST OF THE STORY
• The teams traded buckets over the game's first few minutes until layups from
Kosta Radulovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Perkiomen School [Pa.]) and
Jordan Stafford a minute apart gave Gettysburg an 8-4 lead and the visitors held the lead the rest of the way. Back-to-back Stafford baskets opened up a 12-6 edge with 13:47 showing. Haverford crawled back within 23-21 but an
Akim Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) 3-pointer with 7:04 showing sparked a 12-0 game-changing run over the next nearly three minutes.
Lorenzo Carrara (Norwood, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) contributed seven points, including two triples, during the run. The lead remained in double digits until an Adam Strong-Jacobson driving layup in the waning seconds made it a 38-29 game at the intermission.
• A Luke Phillips three-point play cut the margin to six in the opening 30 seconds of the second half. The Bullets responded with the next six points, however, to push the lead to 44-32 with 16:41 showing. The lead grew to as large as 14 and remained at 55-47 until a burst of five straight points cut the deficit to five with 8:18 to play. After
Carl Schaller drained a 3-pointer, the lead remained between seven and 11 points for the rest of the game.
THE INSIDE STORY
• With a Franklin & Marshall victory over Johns Hopkins, Gettysburg is now part of a three-way tie for first place with two games to play. The Bullets have secured a home game in the Centennial Conference tournament but would need two wins in their final two regular season games to assure a first-round bye and host a semifinal for the second straight year.
•
Lorenzo Carrara finished with nine points.
• Gettysburg finished with a 50-35 rebounding average behind a game-high 11 boards from
Aidan Mess (Brookeville, Md./Mt. St. Joseph), who also scored eight points to go with two assists, two steals and two blocked shots.
