THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Jack Burke was hit by a pitch to lead off the game before taking second on a wild pitch. After an
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) single and
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) sacrifice fly, a passed ball allowed Hicks to score for a 2-0 lead after one-half inning.
• Singles from Hunter Bell and Tyler Holton coupled with a walk loaded the bases with one out for Kevin Goedeke, who singled home Bell and Holton to tie the game.
•
Alexey Stout (Wall, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) singled to lead off the top of the second before three straight one-out walks put Gettysburg back in front with the bases still loaded. After a strikeout,
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) was hit by a pitch to force in
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) for a 4-2 lead.
• After a 1-2-3 bottom of the frame, three walks and an error made it 5-2. Burke followed with a two-run double before scoring on a balk for a 9-2 advantage.
• Ben Boyer and Logan Ward bookended a five-batter stretch with doubles in the home third, keying a four-run counter that closed the margin to 9-6. Boyer doubled with one out before an error and walk loaded the bases. After a strikeout, Ward cleared the bases with a double before scoring on a Ryan Parks two-bagger for the final tally of the four-run frame.
• Four walks in the top of the fourth got one of those runs back before three more walks was the catalyst for a three-run sixth. Burke added an RBI single with one out and Pistner had a run-scoring single with two down in the inning.
• Three straight singles with two outs and then an error led to a three-run seventh that set the final margin.
