THE SKINNY STORY
Johns Hopkins, ranked 20th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, turned a tie game after three quarters into a 59-51 win over No. 9 Gettysburg.

THE LEADERS
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) led three Bullets in double digits with 12 points.

FOR THE FOES
• Macie Feldman paced the Blue Jays with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
• Michaela O'Neil chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Behind three baskets from Alayna Arnolie, Gettysburg jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the opening 3:31 of the first quarter. A Reagan Chrencik (New Hope, Pa./New Hope Solebury) layup opened up a 10-5 lead but Johns Hopkins scored six straight in just 98 seconds to take an 11-10 edge before AB Holsinger (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) drove to the rim and finished in the final 22 seconds of the quarter to take a 12-11 lead after one period.
• Neither defense gave much over the first seven minutes of the second quarter with each offense mustering only eight points. Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) hit a layup with 3:24 showing to spark a 7-0 close to the half. Ava O'Neil (Chevy Chase, Md./St. John's College) pulled up and hit a 3-pointer – the only one be either team in the first 20 minutes – with 70 seconds to play before Holsinger connected from midrange in the final 27 seconds for a 25-19 halftime edge.
• The Blue Jays netted the first four of the third quarter to close to within 25-23 with 2:11 elapsed after the break. The Bullets, however, countered with four straight of their own to go back up six just over a minute later. A Layla Henderson triple cut the deficit in half with 6:33 on the clock. A Henderson fast-break layup made it a 29-28 game nearly a minute after her 3-pointer. It was back-and-forth until Michaela O'Neil drained a 3-pointer from the wing for a 38-36 advantage with 1:16 showing. Two Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) free throws with 4.2 seconds remaining drew the game even heading to the final 10 minutes.
• Tied at 39-all, Johns Hopkins hit a pair of jumpers to take a 43-39 lead with 6:30 to play. Violante scored directly off an inbounds pass and Arnolie canned a step-back 15-footer to retie the game midway through the quarter. Kendall Dunham had the response to put the hosts back in front. The Blue Jays pushed the lead to 51-45 on a Macie Feldman shot from close range. Violante, however, drained a 3-pointer to make it a three-point game with 1:29 to play. Feldman responded with a traditional three-point point to extend the lead back to six. Arnolie hit the first of two free throws with 1:01 on the clock to make it a 54-49 game. O'Neil hit a pair of free throws with 40.2 seconds to extend the lead to seven and secure the victory.
