THE SKINNY STORY
Trailing 5-0, Gettysburg plated eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead and defeat Kenyon, 12-6.
THE LEADERS
•
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) led the Bullets with a 3-for-5 day, adding two RBIs. He also scored two runs.
•
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) added three hits of his own, driving in one.
FOR THE FOES
• Niko Price went 3-for-4 to lead the Owls.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Nate Rosen drew a walk to lead off the game before a Trey Kent-Landrum double put runners at second and third for Edwin Groff, who had a ringing single to center to score both runners for a 2-0 lead.
• Singles from Groff and Parker Gibbons put two on with one out in the top of the third before three straight singles from Niko Price, Ben Resnick and Tyler Nee pushed the lead to 4-0.
• A Kent-Landrum leadoff single in the fourth, wild pitch and Gibbons run-scoring single made it 5-0.
•
Matt Nichols started the 11-batter fourth inning with a double to deep left before
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) made it first and third on a seeing-eye single. After he stole second,
Will Roche (Milton, Mass./Boston College H.S.) drew a walk to load the bases and force a pitching change.
Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) singled to score Nichols before a
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) sacrifice fly made it 2-0. A two-run
Jack Burke single to the gap cut the deficit to one. After an
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) single,
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) doubled to score both runners for a 6-4 lead. A two-out Nichols poke plated Pistner before a stolen base, wild pitch, walk and double steal capped the inning with an 8-5 lead.
• Gettysburg tacked on one in the fifth on a Murphy bunt single, stolen base and two-out Hicks single.
• Burke doubled to start the seventh before a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly made it 10-5.
• An error in the top of the eighth opened the door for Kenyon to get one back. A Gibbons double, walk and Colin Shoe single made it 10-6.
• Nichols, though, led off the home half of the inning with a line-drive single to right before
Hunter Del Guercio (Millstone, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice, Laqui RBI groundout and wild pitch set the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY

•
Alex Bergen (Potomac, Md./Good Counsel) pitched three innings of relief with six strikeouts and just three hits to earn his first collegiate victory.
