FIRST PITCH: Today's Centennial Conference (CC) doubleheader marks the 93rd and 94th all-time meetings between No. 17 Gettysburg (18-3, 0-0 CC) and Washington (Md.) (4-12, 0-0 CC) in a series that dates back to 1981. The Bullets lead the all-time series 72-19-1 and have won 10 of the last 11 matchups. The lone Shorewomen victory since 2018 was a 6-2 victory in the first game of last year's series.

LAST SEASON'S SERIES: Gettysburg scored all six of its runs in game two in the final three innings to record a 6-1 victory after Washington (Md.) rallied with six runs in its final three at bats in game one for a 6-2 win last season in Chestertown. Julia Smith led the Bullets with four hits on the day. Paige Forry started both games in the circle, throwing a total of 12 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts. She went the distance in game two, allowing just three hits for the win. Lilly Cook led the Shorewomen with three hits on the day. (Full Recap) (Game 1 Box) (Game 2 Box)

LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg used big sixth innings in both games to break open close games and sweep Lebanon Valley on Thursday. The Bullets captured game one 8-1 before taking game two, 10-4. Anika Pelekis led the Bullets with four hits – two in each game – and three RBIs in the twinbill. Paige Forry went the distance in game one with 10 strikeouts and no walks before picking up the save in the nightcap with two more strikeouts. Holly Grube led the Flying Dutchmen with four hits on the day. (Full Recap) (Game 1 Box) (Game 2 Box)

NO. 17 WITH A BULLET: Gettysburg rose to 17th in the latest NFCA Div. III coaches' poll on Tuesday. The Bullets debuted at 24th two weeks ago before rising to 21st last week. The No. 17 national ranking is not only the best in program history but it is the highest known ranking for any Centennial Conference softball team.

HEAD OF THE CLASS: The Bullets, who won the Centennial Conference title last spring, were the preseason favorites to repeat as champions in 2025. Gettysburg was the unanimous choice from the coaches with 64 points. Swarthmore was picked second with 53 points. Washington - last season's regular-season champions - was chosen fourth in the annual balloting with 43 points.

LAST TIME OUT: Washington travelled to No. Salisbury on Wednesday, dropping both games in five innings. The Sea Gulls won game one 8-0 before taking game two, 14-2. Gracelyn Goforth had a double and RBI in game two. (Full Recap) (Game 1 Box) (Game 2 Box)

LOADED UP TOP: All of the regular hitters in the Washington lineup this season are juniors or seniors. Despite a slow start in the non-conference schedule, the Shorewomen have a group used to picking it up once conference play starts. The same unit hit .287 overall last season but that average rose to .313 in conference play, leaving the team hitting .269 out of conference play. This year, Washington is hitting .262 in its first 16 non-conference games. Chloe Trefz and Gracelyn Goforth are the only regulars hitting .300 or better. Trefz is hitting .348 with a team-high 16 hits. Goforth has a .341 average with seven doubles among her 14 hits.
