THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg used an eight-run fourth inning to rally from a five-run deficit and take a three-run lead en route to a 16-9 victory over Wilson.
THE LEADERS
•
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the Bullets with three hits and a program-record-tying eight RBIs. He also scored two runs and walked once.
FOR THE FOES
• Seth Bivens led the Phoenix with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Harry Middlebrooks and Jordan Daphne put together back-to-back one-out singles before a fielding error staked Wilson to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
•
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) was hit by a pitch to start the home first before
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) poked a single through the left side.
Jack Pistner then kept a ball just inside the first-base bag that rolled into the corner for an inside-the-park three-run home run and 3-1 lead.
• Four singles and two errors helped the Phoenix respond with three runs of their own in the top of the second to reclaim a 4-3 lead.
• A walk, two errors and a Pistner RBI groundout tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
• A Seth Bivens two-run double in the top of the third keyed a five-run frame that gave Wilson a 9-4 lead. The first four batters of the inning reached, including Ryan Turner on a strikeout-wild pitch, that Bivens capped with the double. Middlebrooks added a one-out RBI single and scored on a throwing error to cap the frame.
• The Bullets sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth for the eight-run inning. Hicks walked and stole second before scoring on a Pistner single.
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) followed with a single before a two-run
Michael Fischetti (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) knock made it 9-7. Three straight passes, a fielders choice and walk had the bases loaded for Pistner with two outs. The senior lined a ball in the gap for a bases-clearing triple and 12-9 lead.
• A Hicks double, two hit batters and two walks tacked on two runs in the sixth before the Bullets added one in the seventh and one in the eighth for the final margin.

•
Connor Stewart (Hickory, N.C./NC School of Science and Math) picked up the win in relief, throwing two innings with four strikeouts. He allowed three hits and one unearned run.
