What: Non-conference baseball game
When: Sunday, Mar. 9

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg broke a 3-all deadlock with a run in the bottom of the eighth to top Lasell, 4-3.
THE LEADERS
•
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) led the Bullets with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
FOR THE FOES
• Tim Callahan led the Lasers with two hits and drove in all three runs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• With two outs in the bottom of the first,
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) drew a walk before a
Will Stellato single put runners at the corners. After Stellato stole second,
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) singled through the left side to score both runners and stake Gettysburg to a 2-0 lead.
• Lasell cut the deficit in half in the sixth on a CJ Mills walk, stolen base and Tim Callahan two-out double.
• The Bullets got the run back in the bottom of the seventh.
Matthew Vivona (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) singled to lead off the inning before giving way to pinch runner
Henry Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle), who took second on a sacrifice and then scored from third on a
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) safety squeeze.
• After the Lasers tied the game on a one-out Callahan two-run double,
Tyler Lizell (Upper Dublin, Pa./Upper Dublin) came on in relief and got a fly-out double play to keep the game tied going to the home eighth.
• In the frame,
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) walked to lead off the inning before moving to third on a Stellato single. Another squeeze – this one from Nichols – but the Bullets back in front and Lizell worked a 1-2-3 top of the ninth for the win.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
Matt Nichols had one hit and drove in three runs.
•
James Weedon (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) threw the first six innings, striking out a career-high 10 while walking just two and allowing four hits but did not factor in the decision.
