THE SKINNY STORY

THE LEADERS
•
Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) hit his first collegiate home run in the second inning to stake the Bullets to an early 3-0 lead.
•
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) then came up with a two-run double for the go-ahead scores in the eighth inning.
FOR THE FOES
• Tanner Wolpert led the Diplomats with two hits and an RBI.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After both teams had baserunners erased on the basepaths over the first inning and a half,
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) poked a one-out single through the right side in the home second.
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) followed with a walk before
Brendan Laqui took a 2-1 pitch over the fence in left field for his first roundtrippper and a 3-0 lead.
• Gideon Schwartz singled to lead off the top of the third before a throwing error on a sacrifice attempt put two runners on. After a single made it 3-1, Nolan McCloskey reached on a bunt single to load the bases. A double play yielded the second run before Tanner Wolpert singled to left to tie the game.
• A one-out Wolpert double and AJ Desautels single put runners at the corners for Franklin & Marshall. After a stolen base, Andrew Filipelli looped a full-count pitch into left field for a 5-3 lead.
• With one out in the seventh inning,
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) singled through the left side.
Dominick Balsamo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) then poked a two-out single into center. An Amirata single up the middle scored Pistner to make it 5-4 before
Liam Gregory (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Catholic) was hit with a pitch on a full count to load the bases.
Michael Fischetti (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) – also at the plate as a pinch hitter – drew a full-count walk to force in Balsamo with the tying run.
•
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) walked on a 3-2 pitch to start the eighth inning before moving to second on a
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) sacrifice. After an intentional walk to Pistner, Stellato roped the first pitch he saw into the left-field corner to score both runners for a 7-5 lead and force a pitching change. Stellato stole third and Balsamo walked to put runners at the corner. Amirata lifted a sacrifice fly to center for an 8-5 lead before
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) walked.
Henry Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) followed with a triple to the track in center field for a 10-5 lead and force a second pitching change in the frame.
•
Tyler Lizell (Upper Dublin, Pa./Upper Dublin), who allowed an infield single to the first batter he faced in the seventh inning, threw his second straight 1-2-3 inning and retired the final nine he faced in order for his fourth win of the season.
