THE REST OF THE STORY
• After

Gettysburg, however, got balanced scoring to put together a 21-4 stretch over 9 minutes, 54 seconds to open up a 23-7 lead with 9:18 remaining in the opening half. Back-to-back baskets from David Kearney made it a 23-11 game but the Bullets scored 11 of the next 16 points to open up their largest lead at 34-16 on a
Reece Craft (Downingtown, Pa./Devon Prep) dunk with 2:58 to play. Six points from Kearney keyed an 8-0 burst that trimmed the deficit to 34-24 before
Caleb Gillus (Falls Church, Va./Sidwell Friends School [D.C.]) pull-up stretched the lead to 12 at the break.
• The Bullets – behind five points each from
Josh Herr (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) and
Ray Zamloot – scored 10 of the first 11 points in the second half to build a 46-25 lead just over four minutes into the final stanza. A 7-0 burst pulled McDaniel back within 46-32 with 14:16 showing. The run extended to 13-3 over a stretch of 3 minutes, 29 seconds. Kearney capped the run with two free throws that closed the margin to 11 with 12:26 to play. On the other end, Gillus found Craft under the hoop late in the shot clock to stem the tide and spark a 16-7 run to push the lead back to 65-45 with 6:46 to play.
Lorenzo Carrara (Norwood, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) drained a pair of corner 3-pointers and
Alex Grospe scored seven points, including two triples of his own in the run. Trailing 68-47, McDaniel went on a 12-4 run that included a 5-for-5 stretch from the free-throw line to close to within 72-59 but with just 1:23 to play.
