Bates won 13 of the 14 events to defeat Gettysburg 181-81 in the first action of 2026.
THE LEADERS

Sam Nelson (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) recorded the lone victory for the Bullets, touching first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:05.34. He was also second in the 500 free with a time of 4:57.14.
FOR THE FOES
• Tim Johnson led the Bobcats with four victories on the day. After leading off the 200 medley relay realy to a win in 1:30.28, he won the 50 back (24.08 seconds), 100 back (51.17) and 200 IM (1:57.90).
THE REST OF THE STORY

Evan Graham (Crofton, Md./The Key School),
Connor Booth (Wallingford, Conn./Suffield Academy),
Max McAlister (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy) and
Ethan Keiner (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) opened the day with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:35.58).

Connor Mangan (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks West) placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.76 while
Connor Tiffin (Elkridge, Md./McDonogh School) was fourth (1:49.03). Mangan added a second-place finish in the 200 IM (1:58.30) and third-place showing in the 100 back (52.90). Tiffin was third in the 200 IM (2:03.59).
• Graham touched second in the 50 back (24.35 seconds) and 100 back (52.40).

Toby Winston (Winchester, Va./Sherando) was second in the 50 free (21.88) and 100 free (47.20).
• McAlister finished second in the 50 fly (23.52).
•
Ben Butterfield (Henrico, Va./St. Christopher's School) was third in the 100 fly (52.54).
• Booth placed fourth in the 50 breast (27.29) and 100 breast (1:01.53) while Keiner was fourth in the 100 free (49.11).
• Winston, Booth, Graham and Keiner wrapped up the day with a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:25.71).
THE INSIDE STORY
• Marrich Somridhivej, Nate Oppenheim and Maximillian Cory joined Tim Johnson to win the 200 medley relay. All three also added individual wins for Bates. Somridhivej swept the breaststroke, winning the 50 (25.63) and 100 (55.69). Oppenheimer touched first in the 100 fly (50.24). Cory was first to the wall in the 50 free (20.38) and 50 fly (22.63).
• John Weigel also won the 100 free (46.37 seconds) while Liam Friedlander won the 500 free (4:54.16).
• Nathaniel Pierce, Cory, Weigel and Somridhivej teamed to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:23.46.
