THE REST OF THE STORY
• Evan Bruder poked a ball through the left side to lead off the bottom of the first before Joel Ayers poked a one-out double to left to put runners at second and third. After a punchout, an overthrow of first on a strikeout allowed both runners on base to score for a 2-0 lead.
• Nick Ruiz doubled down the first-base line with one out in the second before an infield single put runners at the corners and a sacrifice fly made it 3-0.
• Gabe Gaucci (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) drew a pinch-hit walk in the top of the fifth before an
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) single and
Will Bercaw (Langhorne, Pa./The Pennington School) RBI groundout to the right side made it 3-1.
• With one out in the ninth,
Dominick Balsamo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) dropped in a single before
Brayden Casas (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) poked a pinch-hit single to the gap, putting runners at the corners.
Will Roche followed with a slicing ball to the gap that scored Balsamo but miscommunication on the bases led the second out and Isaac Galarza got a fly ball to get out of the inning and pick up his first save of the year.
