NEW ORLEANS, La. – Three individuals as well as one relay for Gettysburg men's indoor track and field team were named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region team, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently.
Eli Steel (York, Pa./York Country Day School),
Jack Regentin (Gettysburg, Pa./Biglerville) and
Liam O'Meara (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) claimed honors in individual events while the distance medley relay also claimed all-region accolades.
Steel claimed all-region honors in both the long jump and triple jump. His program-record jump of 6.88 meters (22-7) in the long jump at the Centennial Conference championship on Sunday, Mar. 1 was the No. 7 mark in the region and earned him the gold medal in the event. He posted the No. 3 mark in the triple jump with a program-record leap of 14.33 meters (47-¼) at the PLEX Shootout on Jan. 31.
Regentin posted the No. 5 mark in the region in the shot put at the River Hawk Friday Night on Feb. 6. The mark of 15.34 meters (50-4) is second in program history.
O'Meara posted the No. 6 mark in the region in the pole vault, clearing 4.60 meters (15-1) at the Centennial Conference championship on Saturday, Feb. 28. His program-record mark earned him the silver medal.
The quartet of
David Magill (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Rye Neck),
Rouri Takahashi (Setegaya-ku, Japan/Wilbraham & Monson Academy),
Mick Lorenger (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) and
Jack Taylor (Mohnton, Pa./Twin Valley) posted the No. 8 time in the region in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:43.74 at the Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday, Feb. 28. The mark was converted to 10:35.12 on the ranked performance list.
The top eight athletes in each individual event and relay in each region earn all-region honors.
The outdoor season opens at the Little 3 Meet hosted by Gettysburg on Saturday, Mar. 28. Action begins at 11 a.m.
