THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg scored the final five runs of the second game to forge a split with Washington (Md.) and earn the final spot in the Centennial Conference tournament. After the Shoremen claimed the No. 3 seed with a 6-1 victory in the opener, the Bullets rallied for an 8-5 win and the No. 5 seed.

THE LEADERS
Ethan Mitnick (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) slammed the door for the Bullets, striking out two and not allowing a hit over the final three innings for his fifth save.
Dominick Balsamo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) provided the insurance with a two-run home run in the seventh inning as part of his three-hit, four-RBI nightcap.

FOR THE FOES
• Brett Connelly powered the Shoremen in game one with a 4-for-4 game and four runs scored. He added a solo home run in game two.
• Michael Lewis struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven innings of work for the game-one win.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Brett Connolly, Chase Ruppel and Reese Hirsh put together three-straight one-out bloop singles before a bases-loaded walk staked Washington to a 1-0 lead in game one.
• A Mike Coleman (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) triple and RBI from Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) tied the game with one out in the bottom of the inning.
• The Shoremen used back-to-back singles and a fielding error on a bunt attempt to load the bases in the third before an error on an attempted double play turn gave the visitors a 2-1 lead.
• Singles from Connelly and Hirsh before a groundout and wild pitch made it 3-1 in the fifth.
• Connelly homered with one out in the seventh for a 4-1 advantage before a pair of free passes, error, sacrifice fly and Alex Dardaris single cap the scoring in the ninth.
• Drew Kinsey led off game two with a single before back-to-back groundouts moved him to third and a Wyatt Uhde single to left once again staked the Shoremen to a 1-0 lead.
• Walks to Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) and Coleman before an Amirata single tied the game and forced an early pitching change. After a hit batter, Dominick Balsamo singled to left to make it 2-1 and Will Roche (Milton, Mass./Boston College H.S.) was hit by a pitch to force in a third run.
• A single and back-to-back home runs from Kinsey and Connolly put Washington back in front 4-3 in the second.
• Doubles from Uhde and Ty Everitt stretched the lead to 5-3 in the top of the fifth.
• Amirata led off the bottom of the frame with a double before an error put runners at the corners. Balsamo the poked a double down the line to make it 5-4 before a Brayden Casas (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) pinch-hit, RBI groundout scored Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) to tie the game. Another RBI groundout from Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) scored Balsamo with the go-ahead run.
• In the seventh, Amirata led off with a single before a one-out Balsamo long ball easily cleared the right-field fence to push the lead to 8-5.

THE INSIDE STORY
Mike Coleman went 3-for-5 in the opener for three of Gettysburg's five hits in the game.
Jack Amirata added three hits of his own in game two.
Luca Tosca (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) threw three innings of relief with three strikeouts to get the win in the nightcap.
