THE SKINNY STORY
Washington and Lee, ranked 13th in the latest USILA Div. III coaches' poll, jumped out to a 5-1 lead and never trailed in a 19-10 win over No. 7 Gettysburg in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Div. III men's lacrosse championship tournament at Christopher Newport.
THE LEADERS

Jackson Barroll (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) led the Bullets with three goals and two assists for five points. He also had two ground balls.
FOR THE FOES
• James Haley led the Generals with four goals and four assists.
• Garrett Ferguson added a game-high five goals.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Israel Mikkelson opened the scoring for Washington and Lee immediately off the opening faceoff, scoring just 13 seconds into the game. Tucker Davis made it 2-0 with 10:06 showing before
Nicholas Limberg (Dix Hills, N.Y./St. John the Baptist Diocesan) cut the deficit in half just shy of two minutes later. Emerson Manswer and James Haley finished solo runs before a Garrett Ferguson man-up tally made it 5-1 with 1:34 on the clock.
Ethan Kessler (Ridgefield, Conn./Millbrook School) cut the deficit to 5-2 in the final minute of the period.

Charlie Johnson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) needed just 68 seconds in the second to make it 5-3. Ferguson sandwiched a Kessler-to-
Jackson Barroll goal to make it 7-5 with 5:03 showing. Haley hit Ferguson on the tally then added another goal an assist as part of a 5-0 finish to the half that opened up an 11-4 lead at the break.

Jackson Hearn (Houston, Texas/Episcopal Bellaire) finished a Barroll pass with 13:46 to play. Another Barroll-to-Hearn connection and Barroll tally helped clos the deficit to 13-8 in the opening 90 seconds of the fourth quarter.
• However, a Luke Caldwell goal with 11:50 to play started a five-goal game-clinching run for the Generals, building a 10-goal lead midway through the final quarter. Barroll and
Cooper Savoy (Killingsworth, Conn./Notre Dame West Haven) got the deficit to 18-10 with goals 49 seconds apart but Byron Newman hit an empty-netter with 1:11 to play to finish the scoring.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Washington and Lee finished with a 46-32 advantage in shots and 43-30 advantage in ground balls. The Generals also won 20 of 32 face-offs, including 10 of the 15 in the second half.

Brian Delduchetto (Weston, Mass./Weston) had three caused turnovers to lead the Gettysburg defense.
• Washington and Lee will face host Christopher Newport in Sunday's third round.
