Gettysburg travels to Newport News for opening weekend of NCAA tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Gettysburg will travel to Newport News, Va., at Christopher Newport for the 2026 NCAA Division III men's lacrosse second and third rounds, beginning on Saturday.

The Bullets (12-4) earned the automatic bid into the field after defeating Dickinson in the Centennial Conference (CC) championship 13-12 in overtime on Saturday night.

Gettysburg is making its 30th NCAA tournament appearance. The Bullets will take on Washington and Lee in Saturday's second-round game, scheduled for 3 p.m. The host Captains will play against the winner of Wednesday's first-round game between Pfeiffer and Transylvania in the day's first game, slated for 12 p.m. The winners will meet in Sunday's third round. Game time is set for 3 p.m.

The Bullets are 21-12 all-time against Washington and Lee, including an 11-9 win in Gettysburg on Mar. 7. Gettysburg has won three in a row against the Generals, including in last season's NCAA third round. The Orange and Blue fell to Christopher Newport 16-9 on Feb. 14 in Owings Mills.

Junior Charlie Johnson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) leads the attack with 43 goals. He ranks third in total points with 49 points, adding six assists. Junior Jackson Hearn (Houston, Texas/Episcopal Bellaire) leads the team with 34 assists and 60 points. His 26 goals is fourth on the team. Sophomore Jackson Barroll (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) – the CC tournament most outstanding player – is second on the team with 33 goals and 58 points.

Junior Brian Delduchetto (Weston, Mass./Weston) leads the defense with 20 caused turnovers and has added 22 ground balls. Senior Will Hedley (Charlotte, N.C./The Hotchkiss School) has 33 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

Junior Jacob Goldstein (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue Horton Watkins) is winning 57.3 percent of his faceoffs (125-for-218) while freshman Brady Schwenk (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford Area) is winning 60.1 percent (83-for-138). Goldstein has a team-high 71 ground balls, two goals and two assists.

Junior Murphy Hoey (Fairfield, Conn./Berkshire School [Mass.]) has a 10.26 goals-against average and .470 save percentage in goal this season.
