FIRST PITCH: Today's Centennial Conference (CC) doubleheader marks the 62nd and 63rd all-time meetings between Gettysburg (12-5, 0-0 CC) and Swarthmore (11-3, 0-0 CC) in a series that dates back to 1994. The Bullets lead the all-time series 44-17 but the Garnet has won nine of the last 10 matchups, including a first-round playoff win last season.

LAST SEASON'S SERIES: Swarthmore scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning a doubleheader sweep of Gettysburg with a 9-1 run-rule victory. The Garnet took game one, 2-0. Giovanna Komst led the Bullets with a 2-for-2 game two, adding a walk and driving in the lone Gettysburg run of the day. LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg got solid pitching and timely hitting to sweep Mary Washington, taking game one 11-3 in six innings before escaping with a 4-2 win in the nightcap last Friday. Anika Pelekis led the Bullets with four hits and three RBIs on the afternoon. She was one of three players with three hits in the opener. Carlie Goldstein provided the difference in game two with a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Emily Angel led the Eagles with three hits on the day. ROOKIES BIG TIMING: Gettysburg is getting solid early production from its freshman class. Audrey Bergan leads the team in hitting with a .458 average, rapping out 27 hits in her first 17 collegiate games that includes four doubles. Marissa Markel is hitting .409 in the 10 games she has played this season while Anika Pelekis broke out in the home opener last Friday, notching her first career three-hit game. In the circle, Isabella Santiago has a 1.38 ERA in 20 1/3 innings of work. She is 3-0 with 12 strikeouts and just two walks in her seven appearances. 

LAST TIME OUT: Swarthmore won its fifth-straight game with a doubleheader sweep over Neumann on Tuesday. The Garnet won the opening contest 8-0 behind seven shutout innings from Emily Bertrand. The team then battled back to defeat the Knights with a two-run Olivia McClammy go-ahead homer in the seventh inning of game two, 4-2. Alex Simon added four hits in the series. OPENING STATEMENTS: Swarthmore enters the conference schedule on a five-game winning streak. The defending Centennial Conference champions were the preseason favorite to repeat in the annual balloting of conference coaches. The Garnet garnered six first-place votes and easily outdistanced second-place Ursinus, 72-55. The Bears received two first-place nods while Gettysburg also got a first-place tally and finished third in the polling with 48 points. Emily Bertrand is back to lead Swarthmore in the circle and has posted a 0.85 ERA in her first seven appearances. She is 5-1 with 15 strikeouts and 22 walks in 41 1/3 innings. Bertrand and Olivia McClammy are both hitting better than .430 on the year. Bertrand leads the squad with a .478 average while McClammy is hitting .435. Both have 20 hits on the year.
