Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior guard Allie Drechsler (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) tied a Centennial Conference record for steals in a game with 12 and the Gettysburg College women's basketball team rolled to a 75-29 victory over Bryn Mawr College in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon at Bream Gymnasium.

With the win, Gettysburg (6-0, 3-0 CC) kept its perfect record intact and tied the best start in school history. The 1999-2000 squad opened the year 7-0.

Senior forward Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) scored a game-high 16 points while grabbing six rebounds for the Bullets while sophomore center Sara Kinsley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) tied a career-high with 12 points off the bench. Sophomore guard Julie McGrory (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) added 11 points and six rebounds while sophomore forward Lauren Dadigan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) notched 10 points.

Drechsler, who played just 24 minutes, tied the CC steals mark set by Johns Hopkins' Ashley Felix against Ursinus on Feb. 21, 2004. She also moved into third on Gettysburg's career steals list and now has 171 thefts for her career. Dreschsler also scored seven points, pulled down five rebounds, and handed out four assists. Freshman center Liz Watt (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) also dished out four assists.

Junior guard Emilie Naccarato led Bryn Mawr (1-5, 0-4 CC) with 12 points while senior guard Shanika Bridges-King tallied 10 points and six rebounds.

Gettysburg forced Byrn Mawr into 29 turnovers and held the visitors to 22.5 percent shooting, including a 17.6 percent (3-for-17) mark in the first half. The Bullets shot 51.6 percent for the game.

The Owls scored the game's first five points and trailed just 11-9 after a Caroline Heffernan lay-up with 13:24 left in the opening half, but the Bullets dug in defensively and limited Bryn Mawr to one point over the remainder of the stanza to take a 35-10 lead into the locker room. Drechsler picked up 10 of her team's 13 first-half steals in just 15 minutes of play.

After Bryn Mawr cut the lead to 19 on a Naccarato three-pointer with 16:02 left, Gettysburg settled any doubt with its second 19-0 run of the game to open up a 56-18 advantage with 11:40 to go. The Bullets led 73-20 after a lay-up from sophomore guard Brittany Jones (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) with 4:28 remaining before the Owls closed the game on a 9-2 run.

Gettysburg returns to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, when it visits Franklin & Marshall College at 6 p.m.
