Box Score

HAVERFORD, Pa. –Gettysburg College made the most of its first opportunity to play as a nationally-ranked team by taking over the lead in the Centennial Conference with an 83-34 victory at Bryn Mawr College in women's basketball action Tuesday night at Haverford College's Gooding Arena.

Gettysburg (13-0, 8-0 CC) extended the second-longest winning streak in program history to 14 games by shooting a scorching 55.7 percent from the field, while holding host Bryn Mawr (1-11, 0-9 CC) to just 25 percent. The victory, coupled with Muhlenberg College's overtime loss to McDaniel College (72-71) Tuesday night, pushes the Bullets to the top of the conference standings. The team's newly acquired station will receive its biggest challenge to date, however, as the 21st-ranked Bullets meet the ninth-ranked Mules Thursday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. inside Bream Gym.

Gettysburg was never threatened Tuesday night, jumping out with the game's first 10 points and heading into the break with a 44-19 lead following a Julie McGrory (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) three-pointer.

The Bullets' defense bunkered down in the second half and held the Owls to just six field goals, while forcing 13 turnovers. A 14-0 run through the mid-point of the final period pushed the lead past the 40-point mark at which point the reserves took control.

Senior Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) moved closer to 1,000 career points with a game-high 17 points in just 20 minutes. She finished 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-5 from distance and is now tied for 12th on Gettysburg's list with 982 points.

McGrory led the Bullets' bench production with a season-high 13 points on a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the field. Junior Mary Spicer (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) tallied 11 points and five boards, while classmate Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) posted 10 points and team highs of eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

Shanika Bridges-King led Bryn Mawr with a double-double effort of 15 points and 11 rebounds.
