GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) and junior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) each pumped in 22 points to lead the Gettysburg College women's basketball team to a 79-72 victory over Alvernia University in the championship game of the 2010 Days Inn Tournament.

Moser was named Sally Musselman Most Outstanding Player and earned her third-straight all-tournament honor at the event after posting 39 points, 21 rebounds, and eight assists in a pair of Gettysburg (10-0) victories. Fields, who netted her second Days Inn All-Tournament selection, nailed five three-pointers and led the team with nine rebounds in the championship game. Both players also moved a step closer to career scoring milestones with Moser moving into 12th on the school's all-time list with 971 career points and Fields jumping to 15th with 946.

The Orange and Blue never trailed in the contest, eventually jumping out to a 10-point lead (20-10) on one of Fields' four first-half three-pointers at 11:55. Gettysburg, which shot nearly 50 percent in the first period, led by as many as 18 before a late Alvernia (5-1) run sliced the advantage to 11 (43-32) at the break.

The Bullets maintained a double-figure lead until just past the midway point of the final period when a three-pointer by Joanna Graber pulled the Crusaders to 61-52 at 8:56. Gettysburg answered right back with seven unanswered points, kicked off by Moser's first career three-pointer, to regain a 68-52 lead with 7:18 to play.

Alvernia refused to go away, whittling the lead down to as little as seven several times in the final four minutes of action, but the hosts answered the call by nailing 5-of-6 free throws inside 2:26 to earn the decision.

Gettysburg's defense once again shined by holding Alvernia below 40 percent shooting from the field, including just 3-of-14 from long distance. The Orange and Blue passing game was also to be admired as the squad dished out 25 assists on 29 field goals, many of which came in transition.
