Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After seeing its 15-match winning streak against Ursinus College come to an end last spring, Gettysburg began the streak anew with a 7-2 decision over the host Bears in Centennial Conference women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (10-5, 4-4 CC) had won every match with Ursinus (6-10, 2-7 CC) dating back to 1981, including all 14 as members of the CC until a 6-3 Bear win in Gettysburg last April. The Bullets ended a two-match skid this season by taking the top two doubles competitions and each of the bottom five singles bouts.

Seniors Kelly Eurich (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and Meghan Kelly (Easton, Conn./Kent School) continued to streak in singles. Eurich posted her seventh-straight win at No. 2 6-2, 6-0, while Kelly equaled that streak with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5. Eurich's victory propelled her into a tie for seventh on Gettysburg career singles wins list with a mark of 38-22.

The pair also formed one-half of successful doubles teams. Kelly and junior Katie Taylor (Ocean City, Md./Worcester Prep) pulled out a 9-8 (7-4) win at the top flight, while Eurich and freshman Lydia MacKenzie (Bedford, N.H./Derryfield School) notched an 8-4 win at No. 2.

Sophomore Kylle O'Sullivan (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) provided the clinching point in the match with a three-set victory at No. 3. After dropping the opener 6-3, O'Sullivan rebounded for 7-5 and 6-3 decisions.

MacKenzie posted an easy victory at the fourth position 6-1, 6-2, while fellow first-year Laura Habecker (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School) was pushed to the limit before surviving for a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 decision at No. 6.

Gettysburg returns to action with a road trip to Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday, April 21, at 4 p.m.
