GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team had its home and conference opener spoiled by No. 20 Muhlenberg College as the Mules surged past the Bullets in the second half for a 63-48 victory in Centennial Conference action inside Bream Gym Tuesday night.

Gettysburg (1-2, 0-1 CC) was led by senior Sara Kinsley and junior Alyssa Oursler who each tallied 10 points. Kinsley also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and sophomore Alyssa Isler contributed nine points off the bench.

Senior Alexandra Chili and junior Alita Zabrecky combined for 42 points and 12 rebounds for Muhlenberg (4-0, 1-0 CC).

Muhlenberg, which fought off the Bullets for a 63-60 win in last season's conference opener, led from start to finish in Tuesday's affair. After pulling to 8-7 on a jumper by Oursler at 15:34, Gettysburg was on the wrong end of a 14-4 run highlighted by three three-pointers by Chili. The Mules led by as many as 11 twice in the opening stanza before taking a 35-28 lead into the break.

The Bullets closed the gap in the opening minutes of the final period with an old-fashioned three-point play by Oursler pulling the score to 41-37 at 15:49. That would be the closest the hosts would get as the visitors went on a 17-4 run to surge ahead 58-41 with just over seven minutes left. The lead grew to 19 (62-43) on Zabrecky's third three-pointer of the night.

Gettysburg struggled from the field, shooting just 15-of-46 (32.6 percent), and was out-rebounded 40-30. The Bullets also committed 24 turnovers.

Kinsley and Ourlser each finished 4-of-10 from the field while hitting a pair of free throws. Isler knocked down six attempts from the charity stripe and a three-pointer.

Chili recorded her third 20-point effort of the season for Muhlenberg, finishing 8-of-15 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point land, and 4-of-6 from the free throw line for a game-high 23 points. Zabrecky finished 8-of-20 en route to 19 points.

Gettysburg returns to action after the holiday with a non-conference road trip to York (Pa.) College on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 4 p.m.
