Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team scored the first 36 points and held visiting Bryn Mawr College to just four field goals to earn its first Centennial Conference victory 78-13 inside Bream Gym Tuesday night.

Gettysburg (2-3, 1-1 CC) dialed up the defensive pressure and held Bryn Mawr (0-3, 0-2 CC) to just 4-of-53 (7.5 percent) from the field in the game in addition to forcing 30 turnovers.

All 11 players in uniform scored a bucket for Gettysburg with senior Sara Kinsley paving the way with her second double-double of the season. She flirted with the school's first triple-double in 18 years before finishing with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and a career-high seven blocked shots. Senior Lauren Dadigan and sophomore Katie Earley each produced 10 points with the former adding a career-high five assists.

Gettysburg wasted no time as Dadigan cleaned up a missed shot and Earley converted an old-fashioned three-point play in the opening minute. The lead ballooned to 36 on a jumper by junior Alyssa Oursler before Bryn Mawr broke an 0-for-19 start with a three-pointer by Aislinn Toohey with 3:13 left in the opening period.

Freshman Danielle Bernini connected on a baseline jumper with two seconds left to give Gettysburg a 42-6 lead at the half.

Gettysburg netted 28 of its 36 second-half points in the paint with Kinsley turning in 11 and sophomore Caroline Murphy adding eight off the bench. Bernini capped the day with a putback with 32 seconds left.

The 65-point difference was the largest by the Bullets since the team beat Lebanon Valley College by 65 points (79-14) on Jan. 20, 1981. It marked the second-largest margin of victory in school history, trailing only an 83-13 win over Wilson College on March 1, 1977.

Gettysburg did most of its damage inside with 48 points in the paint. The Bullets out-rebounded the Owls 61-32, including 29 caroms on the offensive end.

Murphy finished with nine points and nine rebounds to lead the Orange and Blue reserves. Sophomore Cori Younghans was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field to net eight points, adding four rebounds and four assists. Freshman Taylor Flatau and Bernini each posted six points, the latter adding six rebounds.

Gettysburg returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 1, with a road trip to Johns Hopkins University. Game time is 7 p.m. inside Goldfarb Gym.
