Box Score

CARLISLE, Pa. – Trailing 50-46 with 3:04 left, Dickinson College rattled off seven consecutive points to get by Gettysburg College 53-50 in Centennial Conference women's hoops action Wednesday night.

Despite the loss, Gettysburg (18-6, 13-6 CC) clinched the No. 3 seed for the Centennial Conference Tournament hosted by Johns Hopkins University set for next weekend (Feb. 26-27). The Bullets will face Muhlenberg College at a time to be determined.

Senior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) put up her second double-double in her last four games with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Gettysburg. Junior Julie McGrory (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Taylor Miller led Dickinson with a game-high 16 points, including the go-ahead lay-up with 24 seconds left. Alesha Sisco added 14 points and Carole Dempsey netted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Dickinson (10-13, 8-11 CC) held the lead for the entire first half, netting the first seven points of the game. Gettysburg came back to tie the contest three times late in the period, the last following a three-pointer by McGrory which made it 22-22 with about a minute to go. Dempsey gave the hosts a two-point advantage with a jumper before the half.

In the final stanza, the lead changed hands eight times as the two rivals went toe-to-toe. Trailing 36-33 at 13:40, Gettysburg rattled off an 8-1 run to grab its largest lead up to that point. The advantage grew to a game-high five (46-41) following a jumper by freshman Cori Younghans (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) at 5:06.

After a conventional three-point play by the hosts, McGrory converted a lay-up to set the score at 48-44 with 4:21 left on the clock. That was where the Bullets' luck ran out, however, as the visitors went without a field goal for the remaining time.

Meanwhile, Dickinson battled back to eventually tie the game at 50 with just over one minute remaining. McGrory drew a foul and was sent to the free throw line on the ensuing possession, but the conference's leader in free throw percentage was off target on both attempts. The Red Devils took advantage as Miller converted in the paint.

Gettysburg had a shot to tie the game, but McGrory's jumper was wide and Annie O'Donnell collected the carom before sinking a final free throw with five seconds left.

Gettysburg closes out the regular season this Saturday (Feb. 19) by hosting McDaniel College at 4 p.m. The game also marks Gettysburg's Senior Day.
