GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Zach Thomson earned a major decision at 165, but the Gettysburg College wrestling team dropped a 28-13 decision to Ursinus College in a Centennial Conference match Saturday afternoon in Bream Gymnasium.

Gettysburg (4-5, 1-2 CC) was also scheduled to compete against Muhlenberg College, but the Mules did not make the trip due to inclement weather.

Ursinus (6-0, 2-0 CC), which also defeated Johns Hopkins University 18-15 to finish the day 2-0, jumped to a 19-3 lead against Gettysburg before the Bullets cut it to 19-10 following Thomson's major and a decision from sophomore Jared Leon at 174. But the Bears clinched the match with a decision at 184 and a pin at 197.

Thomson, who earlier this week earned a No. 4 national ranking and was named the d3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week, picked up his seventh major decision of the season with a 14-0 whitewashing to run his record to 25-1.

Leon registered a 4-0 shutout to push his mark to 16-8 before junior Kevin Poplaski nailed down his 20th win of the season, concluding the match with a 3-2 victory at heavyweight to improve to 20-9.

Earlier in the day, sophomore Matt Spano eked out a 4-2 triple-overtime victory at 133, getting a takedown at the end of the third extra session while moving to 21-8 on the year.

The Bullets also sent sophomore Andrew Petroulias, freshman Holt Johnson, and freshman Max Sataloff to the Messiah Open, where Petroulias finished 2-2, including a  2:12 pin.

Gettysburg returns to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, when it hosts McDaniel College at 7 p.m.
