Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior Emily Kleinburd scored the game-winning goal with 29:22 left in the game and the Gettysburg College field hockey team posted a 2-1 road victory at Muhlenberg College Saturday evening.

The Bullets (11-3, 6-2 CC), who overcame a 14-10 shot deficit, won their fourth game in a row and pulled into a tie with Haverford College for second place in the Centennial Conference standings. Gettysburg closes its regular season with a pair of games this week; the top-five teams in the Centennial qualify for the conference playoffs.

Four days after scoring the game-winning goal against McDaniel College, senior Ally Duggan struck again, this time with a penalty-stroke tally that put the Bullets up 1-0 with 6:51 left in the first half. The Bullets averted danger earlier in the half when a bMule penalty-stroke attempt bounced off the post.

Muhlenberg (9-6, 4-5 CC) evened the score with 4:36 left in the half, when Lauren Jordan tipped in a shot to make it 1-1 heading into the intermission.

The Mules outshot the Bullets 10-6 in the opening half, but that's when senior Megan Feeg made three of her four saves.

Kleinburd converted her goal on Gettysburg's first shot of the second half. She took a feed from sophomore Kristen Olenick from the end line to the center of the circle, where she knocked in her second goal of the season and her second career game-winner.

Each team managed just three shots the rest of the way. Gettysburg had a chance to further its lead with 3:16 remaining, but junior Liz Baron was off the mark on the third penalty stroke of the game.

Kristen Dornenburg made five saves for Muhlenberg.

Gettysburg finishes the regular season at home, starting with a 4:30 p.m. match-up with sixth-ranked and conference-leading Franklin & Marshall College on Tuesday.
