Women’s Hoops Wins at Bryn Mawr

Eleven Bullets score in 68-40 victory

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – All 11 players who entered the game reached the scoring column as the Gettysburg College women's basketball team won 68-40 at Bryn Mawr College on Saturday.
 
Gettysburg (3-3, 2-1 CC) was led by junior Alyssa Isler's (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) 15 points. Classmate Rianna Doane (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) added 10 points and three steals, while fellow junior Cori Younghans (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) posted 10 assists and five steals.
 
Nicolette Parmese led Bryn Mawr (1-5, 0-4 CC) with 20 points and seven rebounds.
 
Gettysburg never trailed as Isler turned in the first bucket 59 seconds into the game. The Bullets led by as many as 11 in the opening half before entering the break with a 31-22 lead.
 
In the final period, the visitor's defense stepped up and held the hosts to just 4-of-19 shooting from the field. The Bullets opened the second half with a 21-5 run to take a 52-27 lead with 9:27 left in the game. The margin would reach a game-high 29 (66-37) on a three-pointer by freshman Kim Ryan (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) with 3:10 to play.
 
Gettysburg held Bryn Mawr to just 28.9 percent (11-of-38) shooting from the field for the game. It was the fourth time in six games an opponent failed to reach 30 percent against the Bullets. The Bullets also out-rebounded the hosts 41-33 and scored 28 points off 27 Owl turnovers.
 
Younghans' assist total was the most by a Bullet since Allie Drechsler '10 posted 10 against Alvernia University on Jan. 3, 2010.
 
Freshmen Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) and Emily Duggan (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) each scored eight points with the latter adding nine rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Jenna Swope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied six points and six boards.
 
Gettysburg travels to Franklin & Marshall College for its next contest on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.
