Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Gettysburg erased a 12-point first-half deficit, but host Ursinus College held on down the stretch for a 64-60 win over the Bullets in a Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball match-up Saturday afternoon at Helfferich Hall.

Senior center Sara Kinsley posted her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 9-of-10 at the foul line for the Bullets (11-10, 9-7 CC), who fall into sixth place in the CC standings with four league games remaining.

Ursinus (12-9, 11-5 CC) led 62-60 with 27 seconds left after a lay-up from sophomore forward Caroline Murphy. But the Bullets were forced to foul, and four seconds later Kristy George made a pair of free throws to set the final score. Gettysburg turned it over and missed a 3-pointer on its final two possessions.

Murphy finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocks for Gettysburg while junior forward Alyssa Oursler recorded 10 points.

Diamond Lewis poured in 23 points, with 14 coming in the second half, for the Bears while Lindsay Teuber added 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Alli Rosati contributed 11 points.

Oursler put the Bullets on the board first with an offensive rebound and a lay-up, but that's when the Bears went on a 14-0 run spanning three minutes. Gettysburg spent the final 15 minutes of the opening period chipping away at the lead and trailed 33-31 at the break.

The Bullets regained the lead when Oursler hit a jump shot to put her team ahead 37-36 with 16:12 to play in a tighly-fought second half, which included six ties and six lead changes. But Ursinus took the lead for good on a lay-up by Teuber with 3:11 to go, making it 57-56.

Gettysburg drew to within one (59-58) on a jumper by freshman forward Sam Pagel with 2:12 left, but Rosati nailed a big 3-pointer with 1:44 showing to give the Bears a bit of cushion prior to Murphy's late bucket.

Gettysburg out-rebounded Ursinus 43-32 but lost the turnover battle, 13-7.

The Bullets entered the game ranked 11th in Division III in shooting percentage defense (30.9), but Ursinus managed 40.0 percent shooting. The Orange and Blue shot 36.2 percent.

Gettysburg shot 88.2 percent (15-for-17) from the free throw line to Ursinus' 72.7 percent.

The Bullets return to the court with a visit to Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in another Centennial Conference tilt.
