WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team cruised to a 64-35 victory over McDaniel College in Centennial Conference action Tuesday night.
McDaniel (6-8, 3-7 CC) simply had no answer for Gettysburg (10-5, 7-3 CC) as the visiting Bullets turned in the game's first 11 points. The Green Terror scored only one field goal – a three-pointer by Brittney Davis at 14:01 – in the first 14 minutes of action as the visitors jumped out to a 20-point advantage (24-4) following a jumper by freshman

McDaniel cut the deficit down to 11 (27-16) with less than a minute remaining in the first half, but sophomore
Jenna Swope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) nailed a three-pointer from the corner to give Gettysburg a 30-16 lead at the break.
The second half turned into a mirror image of the first as the Green Terror found the hoop only once in the first 10:38 of the period. A lay-up by junior
Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) pushed the lead to 53-18 with 10:06 left on the clock.
Gettysburg turned in its best defensive effort of the season, holding McDaniel to 15.2 percent (10-for-66) shooting from the field. The Bullets also held a commanding lead on the glass with a season-high 51 caroms compared to 37 for the hosts.
Murphy and freshman
Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) paced the scoring effort for the Bullets. Murphy logged her fifth double-double of the year with 15 points and 11 rebounds. She finished 5-for-10 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe. Porter reached double-figures for the seventh consecutive game with 14 tallies to go with five rebounds.
Swope concluded the night with five points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Junior
Rianna Doane (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and sophomore
Danielle Bernini (Kulpmont, Pa./Mt. Carmel) each posted six points, the former grabbing six boards and the latter tallying a pair of blocked shots. Duggan finished with seven rebounds and four points.
Steph Perez led McDaniel with seven points, while Davis tallied six points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Gettysburg returns home to face Haverford College on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m.
