GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg head coach Barb Jordan broke the program record for field hockey coaching victories, highlighting the Bullets' 6-0 season-opening victory over Eastern Mennonite University in non-conference action Friday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.

The win marked victory No. 122 at Gettysburg for Jordan, who surpassed current women's lacrosse coach Carol Cantele '83. Now in her 12th season, Jordan owns a career record of 122-83; Cantele was 121-70-1 from 1992-2001.

Senior Liz Baron (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) posted one goal and two assists to lead the Bullets, who received six goals from six players.

Gettysburg outshot the Royals 35-4 and held an 18-4 advantage in corners.

The Bullets scored three goals in each half, starting with a tally from senior Erica Barbuto (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) 15 minutes in, with sophomore Alex Calder (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney) providing the assist. Baron then contributed to three consecutive goals, first scoring an unassisted tally before setting up freshman Hannah Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck), who posted her first collegiate goal with 12:18 left in the opening period.

Senior Kelly Spieker (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) redirected home a hard shot from Baron 4:15 into the second half to make it 4-0. Two more Bullets registered their first collegiate goals to close the scoring, as junior Kellyann Walley (Northport, N.Y./Northport) struck off a Fitzgerald assist with 21:00 showing before freshman Samantha Wright (Darien, Conn./Darien) converted off a scramble with 5:38 remaining to set the final score.

Senior Alexis Bralow (Philadelphia, Pa./Harriton) had a light day in the cage for the Bullets, making two saves to earn her first collegiate shutout.

The Bullets return to action on Wednesday, when they host York (Pa.) College in another non-conference affair beginning at 4:30 p.m.
