COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College wrestling team dropped a pair of matches at Ursinus College to open its Centennial Conference schedule.
 
Gettysburg (3-11) fell to United States Merchant Marine Academy (9-3) 30-6 to open the day. Six of the nine bouts went to decision, including four decided by three points or less. Senior Matt Spano (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) earned a 7-2 win over Nathan Twito at 141 pounds. The win was the 92nd of his career, leaving one shy of Steve Kareha '03 for fourth in program history.
 
Sophomore Tyler Cunningham (East Berlin, Conn./Xavier) picked up the Bullets' second win with a 6-4 decision over Bernard Watson at 165 pounds.
 
No. 21 Ursinus downed Gettysburg 46-6. The Bears won five matches by pin or technical fall.
 
Junior Pat Thomas (Jamesport, N.Y./Riverhead) managed an early takedown against Corey Markovitch and turned it into a quick pin (1:32) at 174 pounds.
 
Gettysburg returns home to face Muhlenberg College and New York University on Saturday, Feb 1, beginning at noon.
