Courtney Morrow (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) totaled 35 kills and classmate
Hannah Bentz (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added 45 digs to lead the Gettysburg College volleyball to a pair of victories in a tri-match hosted by Ursinus College Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (11-4, 1-0 CC) began the day by taking its Centennial Conference opener against Ursinus (7-4, 0-1 CC) in five sets. The Bullets won the first and third sets 25-22 and 25-20, while the Bears won sets two and four 25-20 and 25-19. The hosts jumped ahead 10-6 in the fifth frame before a 9-1 run by the visitors wrapped up the victory.
Morrow finished with a career-high 22 kills in the match. She made just two errors in 32 attempts for a blazing attack percentage of .625. Morrow also added seven digs and four blocks.
Sophomore
Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) added a dozen kills and freshmen
Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and
Maddie Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) tallied 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Blair finished with a triple-double, adding 41 assists and 11 digs.
Bentz put up a career-high 31 digs, besting her previous personal best by nine. Freshman
Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) added 10 digs.
Gettysburg had a much easier time with Manhattanville College (7-6), posting a season-best attack percentage of .386 in a three-set win (25-14, 25-10, 25-16).
Morrow continued to hold a hot hand with 13 kills on 22 attempts with just one error (.545 attack percentage). Blair added six kills, 27 assists, seven aces, and eight digs, while Bentz posted 14 digs.
Gettysburg heads to York (Pa.) College for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
