Box Score RADNOR, Pa. – Gettysburg broke a 1-1 tie by scoring three goals in less than five minutes in the second half of a 4-1 non-conference victory at Cabrini College Tuesday night.
Junior
Samantha Wright (Darien, Conn./Darien) tossed in a pair of goals in the second half for Gettysburg (5-7). Junior
Tori Sankey (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) scored a goal and an assist, while classmate
Kathryn Hardman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) dished out a pair of assists. Sophomore
Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) recorded nine saves.
Cabrini (7-6), which saw its five-game winning streak come to a close, challenged the Bullets' defense early with four penalty corners and six shots in the opening 7:39. Mowery posted all four of her first-half saves during the stretch to keep the Cavaliers of the board.
Senior
Emily Van Horn (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) picked up her team-best and season-record tying seventh defensive save of the season at 15:43. Gettysburg eventually capitalized on the strong defensive play as the visitors drew a penalty corner at the end of the half. Sophomore
Philippa Lumsden (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) knocked home her second goal of the season following a pass by Hardman to give the Bullets the lead.
Cabrini came back in the opening minutes of the final period to tie the game as Taylor Mack chipped a ball over Mowery at 41:39.
The tie was short-lived with Sankey scoring at 44:24. The junior deflected a long pass from Hardman for her fifth goal of the season. Just 55 seconds later, Wright lit the lamp with Sankey providing the pass to make it 3-1.
Wright capped the scoring with her team-best seventh goal of the fall at 49:07.
Mowery kept Cabrini off the board by stopping a penalty stroke by Kerry Anne Farrell at 64:59 and picking up another save on a shot by Kylie McDevitt at 67:33.
Cabrini out-shot Gettysburg 19-9 and led in penalty corners 13-5.
The Bullets return to action this Friday at home against Bryn Mawr College at 3:30 p.m.
