Tori Sankey '17 scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist against Eastern Mennonite.
Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Six players found the scoring column as the Gettysburg College field hockey team overpowered visiting Eastern Mennonite University 7-0 in a non-conference match up at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on Wednesday.

Junior Tori Sankey (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist, while senior Kim Engelhart (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) tied a school record with three assists.

Gettysburg (3-1) dominated possession of the ball from the opening whistle and scored the game's first goal just under seven minutes in. Junior Hannah Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) pushed a pass through the defense to classmate Samantha Wright (Darien, Conn./Darien) who touched it to her right and shot past the goalie for her team-best and career-best fifth goal of the season.

Despite a barrage of shots and a handful of penalty corners, the Bullets did not reach the scoring column again until 12 minutes later. A loose ball in front of the cage was tapped home by Sankey for her first goal of the season at 19:41.

Sankey set up the next goal four minutes later with a pass in front of the cage to junior Kathryn Hardman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) who found a gap between the goalie's feet for the score.

Engelhart picked up her first assist on the final goal of the opening period, back-tapping a pass to Sankey for the junior's second goal at 25:56.

Gettysburg continued the offensive display in the final stanza with three goals. Junior Catherine Towers (Midlothian, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) knocked home a crossing pass from sophomore Lily Neibart (Morristown, N.J./Pingry) 14 minutes into the second half. Nine minutes later, freshman Victoria Umbach (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan Regional) tallied her first collegiate goal following a pass from Engelhart.

Engelhart completed her assist hat trick with another no-look pass to a waiting Casey Eck (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) on the left post in the 64th minute.

Gettysburg finished with 43-3 and 17-3 advantages in shots and penalty corners, respectively.

Eastern Mennonite managed just one shot on goal which sophomore goalie Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) kicked away for her lone save. Mowery played the first half in goal, while junior Ronnie Bridges (Kingsville, Md./Notre Dame Prep) finished out the game.

Gettysburg begins its Centennial Conference schedule this weekend with a road trip to No. 9 Ursinus College on Saturday, Sept. 19, at noon.
