Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) dropped in 19 points and junior
Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) recorded her fifth double-double of the season to lead Gettysburg College past Shenandoah University 63-46 in a non-conference tilt Thursday night at Shingleton Gym.
Gettysburg (5-3) shook off the rust after a 19-day layoff from competition and out-rebounded Shenandoah (3-8) 52-37 and held sizeable advantages in points in the paint (26-14), points off turnovers (16-5), and second-chance points (21-10).
Dorshimer canned all seven of her free throw attempts on the way to her seventh outing with 19 or more points this season. Gibbons tallied a dozen points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass.
Mia Moore and Jordan Sondrol each scored 11 points, while Erin French grabbed 10 rebounds for Shenandoah.
After the Hornets opened with the game's first point on a free throw, the Bullets rattled off the next nine points. Gettysburg led 19-8 after the first quarter and the lead continued to grow in the second period behind a strong defensive showing. Shenandoah went without a field goal over the final 9:38 of the first half as the visitor's advantage grew to 32-18 at the break.
Dorshimer hit a trio of free throws and a jumper to kick off an 11-0 run and boost Gettysburg's lead to 48-24 with 3:44 left in the third quarter. Two more free throws by the sophomore gave the Bullets' a comfortable 52-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Gettysburg held Shenandoah to just 25.9 percent (14-of-54) from the floor, including 2-of-11 (18.2 percent) from beyond the arc.

Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored six points and grabbed five rebounds, while classmate
Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) led the Gettysburg bench with seven points.
Gettysburg opens 2017 with its own tournament inside Bream Gym on Jan. 2-3. The Bullets face Juniata College on Monday at 6 p.m., while St. John Fisher College and Swarthmore College square off at 8 p.m.
