GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Tori Sankey (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) scored the game-winning goal 4:13 into overtime to lift Gettysburg College to a 2-1 victory over visiting Washington College at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.
Gettysburg (3-3, 1-2 CC) ended a three-game slide to Washington (1-6, 0-2 CC) with the win. Senior
Hannah Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) initiated the game-winning sequence with a shot on goal that was saved by goalie Morgan Domanico. Senior
Kathryn Hardman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) tipped the rebound to the left post where Sankey was waiting to slap the ball into the back of the box.
The Bullets pressed the action early in the contest with a pair of shots on goal in the opening five minutes. Domanico stopped both attempts, but she couldn't stop a third shot by junior
Lily Neibart (Morristown, N.J./Pingry) which put the hosts in front seven minutes in. Junior
Lindsay Kraus (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll School) assisted the goal.

Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Nothern) stopped a shot by Elizabeth Davis at 27:31, but in the ensuing scuffle for the ball Washington was awarded a penalty stroke. This time, Davis found the way past Mowery to tie the contest.
Domanico and Mowery kept the opposing offenses in check with the former making three saves and the latter coming up with four stops in the final period of regulation. Senior
Nina Diamond (Berwyn, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) recorded her team-best fifth defensive save of the season and 10th of her career to keep the Shorewomen off the board in the final minute and send the game to overtime.
After an exchange of saves by the goalies, Washington forced back-to-back penalty corners. The visitors were just about to strike the potential game-winning goal when Mowery's helmet came off, calling a halt to play and waiving off a would-be goal. Gettysburg came right back on offense to set up the game-winning score.
Gettysburg finished with advantages in shots (20-12) and penalty corners (13-12).
Mowery finished with six saves for the Bullets, while Domanico posted 10 stops for the visitors.
Gettysburg visits Stevenson University on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.
