Playoff History
Gettysburg returns to the conference playoffs for the first time since reaching the semifinals in 2012. The Bullets are making their 11th overall appearance and last won the tournament title in 2001. Gettysburg has won five conference titles overall (1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001).
Bryn Mawr is the Cinderella story of the 2019 campaign. After decades at the bottom of the conference, the Owls have surged into the postseason for the first time. The only teams to win the conference tournament titles in their playoff debuts were Johns Hopkins (2000) and Gettysburg (2001).
The Series
The series between Gettysburg and Bryn Mawr was flipped on its head this fall with the Owls scoring their first-ever victory over the Bullets in 27 meetings. Each of the last two match ups have gone to double-overtime. Overall, Gettysburg is 26-1 against Bryn Mawr with 18 shutouts.
Last Meeting
Bryn Mawr pulled off a 3-2 victory in double-overtime as Mary Cugini scored with 39 seconds left in overtime at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on Oct. 4. After a scoreless opening half, Gettysburg struck first with freshman
Jenna Vadinsky (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) tallying a goal in the 35th minute. Bryn Mawr came right back to tie the game a minute later, but senior
Julia Soares (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) cleaned up a rebound in front of the cage to make it 2-1 in the 41st minute.
Kelly Bergman knocked in her second goal to tie the game with just over eight minutes to go. Owl goalie
Maggie Titus kept the Bullets off the board with four saves in the first extra period and stopped a 1v1 with sophomore
Henna Fraiman (Lutherville, Md./Roland Park Country) in the second overtime. Cugini capped the victory by driving down the right side and slapping a crossing shot into the goal.
Last Time Out
Junior
Emma Bertrando (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke 1:27 into overtime to lift Gettysburg past Dickinson 3-2 in the season finale last Saturday. Bertrando gave her team the lead initially by blasting home her own rebound in the 19th minute. The Red Devils tied the game right before halftime, but Soares muscled her way to a goal at the beginning of the final period to regain the lead. Hannah Spiri knocked home a penalty stroke with 3:48 to play to send the game to overtime. Senior
Jillian Caputo (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) posted five saves, while classmate
Sam Nicol (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) added a defensive stop.
Bryn Mawr lost a narrow decision to 11th-ranked Ursinus 1-0 on Saturday. The Owls out-shot the Bears 11-4 in the opening half, but the momentum shifted late as the visitors held the hosts to just one second-half attempt. Ursinus managed to pull out the victory in the final second as
Devon Carroll's shot deflected off Titus into the cage. Titus finished with four saves for the Owls.

Coach's Quote
"We are very excited that we have been able to extend our season and represent Gburg in the centennial conference tournament.
