Playoff History
Gettysburg returns to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2012. The Bullets are making their 11th overall appearance in the postseason event and last won the tournament title in 2001. Gettysburg has won five conference titles overall (1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001).

Johns Hopkins is making its 15th overall appearance in the CC playoffs and is the defending champ. The Blue Jays have won a total of five conference titles (1993, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2018). This will be the second time in three seasons that Johns Hopkins has hosted the semifinals and championship.

The Series
Johns Hopkins has taken a 22-19-1 lead over Gettysburg in the all-time series thanks to a current three-game win streak. The teams have met four times in the postseason with the Blue Jays winning three of those contests. The Bullets' last win over Johns Hopkins in the postseason came in the 2001 championship game.

Last Meeting
Johns Hopkins eased past Gettysburg 6-1 just nine days ago at Shirk Field. The Blue Jays posted three goals in the first half before striking three more times in the third stanza. Katie McErlean accounted for two of the goals on penalty strokes and she added an assist for a five-point day. Sophomore Lauren Beccaria (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) scored Gettysburg's goal in the 49th minute. Senior goalie Jillian Caputo (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) tied a season high with 11 saves in the loss. Johns Hopkins out-shot the Bullets 26-10 and held a 12-7 lead in penalty corners.

Last Time Out
Junior Emma Bertrando (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) produced the only goal in the 30th minute and Gettysburg held on for a 1-0 win at Bryn Mawr in the opening round of the CC Championship this past Tuesday. The Bullets out-shot the Owls 9-2 in the first half, but the visitors didn't take the lead until the final minute as Bertrando slapped in a goal off a penalty corner feed by sophomore Henna Fraiman (Lutherville, Md./Roland Park Country). Caputo turned in three of her four saves in the second half, including kicking away the potential game-tying attempt with 31 seconds left. Gettysburg led in shots (11-7) and penalty corners (8-6).

Johns Hopkins closed out a perfect regular season in conference play and clinched the postseason's top seed with a 2-1 win over sixth-ranked Franklin & Marshall last Saturday. The Blue Jays struck first on a give-and-go between junior Michaela Corvi and sophomore Abby Birk later in the second quarter. Birk padded the lead with her second goal with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter. Sophomore Kaitlin Hall logged three saves to preserve the victory.

Coach's Quote
"The team is very excited to extend our season into the conference semis against a very strong Hopkins team. Having played Hopkins recently, we know we need to slow down their offense, focus on executing the basics effectively, and take advantage of offensive opportunities that we create. We're looking forward to a great weekend of hockey!"
- Head Coach Barb Jordan (18th Season, 174-145)

Looking Ahead
The winner of Friday's first semifinal will meet the victor between Franklin & Marshall and Ursinus. The Bears lead the way with a dozen conference titles, while the Diplomats have claimed two championships. F&M won the regular-season meeting with Ursinus 2-1 in double overtime. Gettysburg suffered a pair of 3-0 setbacks at the hands of the other two semifinalists during the regular season.
